How To Listen

There are a number of ways to listen to The Mardler.  We make no charge for any of these methods.

Memory Stick

Contact our Listener Liaison Officer to be supplied with the free loan of a specially designed memory stick player.  You will then be entered onto our weekly distribution list for memory sticks.  These are sent out to listeners each Friday in purpose made and reusable pouches.  The Royal Mail delivers and returns the pouches free of charge under the Articles for the Blind scheme.  Our return address is:

On our home page you will find a Listen Now link.  Click on this to hear the latest edition of The Mardler together with a few of our past editions.  Simply click on any of the edition links to start playing The Mardler.  No extra software is required but remember to turn on your speakers.

The British Wireless for the Blind Fund Smartphone App

Using either an Android or Apple smartphone you can listen to a selection of talking newspapers including The Mardler.  Once installed select the East of England and then scroll down to The Mardler Talking Newspaper.  Follow the links below to find out more.

You can listen to the latest edition of The Mardler simply by calling the telephone number:

Alexa

If you have an Amazon Alexa voice-activated smart device and internet connection then you can listen to the latest edition of The Mardler by using the Talking Newspaper skill. Before you can use this skill you will need to enable it using the Alexa smartphone app.

To listen on these devices you would say:

“Alexa, open talking newspaper”

and, when prompted, for the publication you require say

“The Mardler Talking Newspaper”

During playback you can also use phrases like:

“Alexa pause”
“Alexa play”
“Alexa stop”

There is no charge for this service other than that of your existing internet service provider.
